Bahagian 2 - Street’s Warmth

“We are here!” the boy said and let go of my hand. “Me and my friends lived here! Isn’t it amazing?!” he continued talking none stop while I just stare at the house. People here said this empty house is haunted because they say kids playing around at night and when they walk though the house, they heard laughing and crying but when they when inside, there’s nobody around.

While that, the Chinese boy said that there’re people rush into their home. They thought police came, so they hide and of course no parents, no rule. They are free to play outside in the middle of the night. Wow! Different stories in two sides.

“Lee! You have return!” A voice greeted. I search for the voice owner and found out it coming from another boy, the same age as mine and… Lee. His name is Lee, right?

Then, another boy with chocolate skin colour uttered, “Oh-My-God, Lee! Where have you been?” This person is a little taller and judging from his skin, perhaps he is an India?

Raising his hand next to his shoulder, he replied, “Yo, Azrul and Vikram!”

The three of them are like best friend or more just like brothers by the way they smiling? Do brothers to brothers smile like that? Who knows, I don’t have brothers but they sure looks like a one big happy family.

Suddenly, Azrul… Azrul, right? Looking at me curiously and stare at me from top to bottom. Is he a pervert or something? “Lee, who’s this bitch?”

“She is our new friend! Her name is… Hey, what’s your name?” Finally, he asks my name!

“My name is Ruzanna and don’t you dare calls me BITCH, Azrul!” I introduce myself with a smile and a glare in the same time.

“Ouch…” sounded Azrul.

Lee smiled and began to introduce his friends, “Okay, Ruzanna! My name is Lee and this is Vikram and this is Azrul. There are more I like to introduce! Let’s go inside!” uttered Lee and the four of us went inside the house. For me, it’s alright to walk into a house like this one because I already used to it. Don’t judge a book by it’s cover as I used to skip school or class if I’m too stress out; usually, I would go into a house like this one.

When I talked to Lee’s friend, I learnt many things about their life. There are many children live without parents or abandon by them and some of them run away because of abuse or more likely called sexual abuse. Their dad or uncle would rape them everyday. Poor thing…

It’s a good thing that Lee and some of his friends found them and helped them escape or called the police. If they refuse to call the police, Lee and his friends will take them. Although living at the street is hard but there is no more the hitting or abuse. They liked it better this way.

There are also some new born babies abandon in the street. Apparently, their parents leave them behind while the babies crying hopelessly; heartless creatures… Lee and his others tried their best to help the babies survive by picking them from trash can then, put them in front of a house, hopefully they can take care the child.

As for me, I should be grateful to have a mom and a dad. I could feel their love and care but its different now. They going to divorce aren’t they? I have to make sure and stop them if I could! “Umm… Lee, I have to go now…” I blurted to Lee who playing with four little children.

Lee stopped talking to the children and looked at me. “You’re leaving?” he said with a sad tone.

Not only for a few second ago, we had fun but I have to leave now… But not forever, right? “Yes, but I’ll come back.” I replied with a smile. Maybe I can share my pocket money with them. Oh, talked about money… “And the money you stole from me… You can keep them, I-”

“YES!” he cheered suddenly. Was the money he sad about or because of me leaving?

After a few minutes of walking, I reached my house. Mom and dad would be surprise to see me for sure! Looking back, I thanked Lee for volunteered to help me walking toward my home. He can really be a gentleman~

Lee only nodded and lends his hand with a smile. “Yes, sure. Protecting fee please~”

Okay, I took back what I just said. Is he really doing this for me or for money? “Don’t have any…” I said to him and walk away.

Walking towards the front room, I felt really excited! I wonder how my parents going to react? Before I knock the door, I heard something… My heart beats faster than normal like something going to happen soon. I move away my hand from knocking and lead my ear closer to hear what I just heard.

“WHAT THE HELL are YOU Talking?! Ruzanna is your CHILD!”

“NO! We’re wasting our money to find her! She was born at the street so, just let her return to the street!”

“What do you MEANT by THAT, WOMAN?! EXPLAIN!”

“Ah, sorry. My secret has slid away. FOR YOUR INFORMATION, I CLAIMED RUZANNA TO BE OUR CHILD TO MARRIED YOU! SASTISFIED?!”

“TCH!”

“AH! HOW DARE YOU SLAP ME?”

………… I am… an abandon… child? I began to ask myself whether it’s true or not that the people inside this house is my parents or not? Is it really, really true that I’m an abandon child? An abandon child… Abandon…

“Hey, Ruzanna~ Hmm…? What’s wrong?” asked Lee when he saw me leaving the house instead of coming in. He looked me with full of question in his face. But none of the questions can be answered right now… Even if I want to say something but I couldn’t… I want to…

“Ruzanna!” he called me once again and the same; I just stare at him emotionlessly. Out of blue, he hugged me really, really tightly like he understands me, like he knows everything by just looking at my face. “Ruzanna…” he whispered and continued, “It’s alright to cry…”

At that time, tears began to rolls down at my cheeks. I couldn’t stop crying. I felt really sad for the agony truth about myself. The parent that I loved is not my real parents. Plus, they don’t care about me anymore… I felt like I am really abandon but Lee is here beside me. He is standing here, hugging me and trying his best to comfort me. In tears, I heard he whispered gently to me, telling me, “Let it all out… I am here with you. Tell me what happen…”

Bahagian 1 - Into the Street

“Where did you go?!”

“Work, of course!”

“Lies! I can smell perfume at your clothes and I always spotted red marks at your collar! WHERE DID you GO?!!”

Those are the arguments that I always heard lately. Mom and dad don’t seem like going to make up but instead, it’s getting worst. Why… Why do they always argue? Don’t they love each other anymore? Many questions appeared in my head but none was answered. I don’t think I want to hear the arguments again.

Last Sunday was the final argument. Usually, the fight would go on for hours but when dad said three words at mom, they stopped fighting immediately. I can see that salty water gathers at mom’s eyes. She is crying; sad to hear the words. The three words are, “Aku ceraikan kau. (I divorce you.)”

Does that meant mom and dad will be separate from each other? I don’t want them to… I love them both the same and I couldn’t possible choose one of them. So, at the same night, I decided to run away from that loveless home. Running is an easy task because like always, mom and dad will lock themselves in different rooms. Plus, I’m their only child; none can stop me from going.

Two days has passed since I ran away from home. Before this, I had never thought of returning home because right now, I’m staying in my friend’s house. However, my friend’s parents are coming back from overseas. They would be angry if Aisyah let a friend sleep here without her friend’s parents noticing. I understand why Aisyah want me to go home. I also missed my mom and dad. Hopefully, they already make up and reject the divorce thingy.

While walking towards my house, my stomach suddenly growled loudly. I couldn’t help but to blush a little. I realize that I haven’t eaten the breakfast Aisyah prepared for me. I sighed and reached my pocket in search for some money to buy some bread or something that can be eaten. When I took out my pocket money, there is RM50.

“With this much money, I could buy many things!” I said happily and added a curve a smile on my face.

Suddenly, someone appeared in front of me and in a second we bumped to each other. I lost my balance so; I fell on the hard ground. It was really painful. The person who bumped into me also fells on the ground. Judging the person’s appearance, the person is a boy and his skin colour is milky-white. Is he a Chinese? I couldn’t see his face because he wears a mask; a kamen rider mask. How childish and only half of this face is revealed thanks to the bumped.

When the boy noticed that I’m staring at him, he smiled and removed his mask, putting it on my lap. “Its yours.” he said while stood up and dash toward the crowd until he is no longer in my sight.

“THIEF!! You stole my money!” blurted a man all of sudden.

“Huh?” I sounded, not understand what the man said.

“Police! She is the one who stole my money!” the man continued and two policemen came and grabbed both of my hands. I wondered, am I alleged being a thief?

“It wasn’t me!” I finally protest.

“You can’t lie to me! The proofs are this mask and the money in your HAND!” retorted the man, showing the kamen rider mask.

“The mask isn’t MINE!” I yelled, protecting myself. It must be the boy I bumped into just now. It MUST be him!

“Say whatever you want kid. I have proofs that you stole my money. Kids these days… Always do bad things and when they got captured, refuse to admit. Little girl, you have caught in red hand blo-” Before the man could finish his stupid whining and all, a boy pushed him. Good.

“She didn’t steal your money!” the boy yelled.

“WHAT?!” shouted the man, becoming really angry.

“Are you even sure that your money is stolen?” asked the boy with determine face.

The man sighed and puts his hand in his pocket He searched and took out everything in his every pocket. Mobile, lighter, cigarette and… Rm50? “W-Where d-did… I…”

All the people sighed and sweat drops. Is that meant I’m saved?

“She is innocent!” uttered the boy. The man just keeps quiet awhile and then, he apologized to me and said to everyone that this is just a misunderstanding.

After a few minutes, everyone left the crowded place, leaving only me and the boy. I’m glad that the boy saved me. Perhaps he saw the incident or maybe… I sighed and grabbed the Kamen Rider Mask and thanked the boy.

Instead of you’re welcome; the boy snatched the mask and my money from my hand. “This is MINE!” he yelled and shows the money. “And this is protecting fee.” he explained and walk away from me.

“Hey! That’s my money and I didn’t ask you to save me! Plus, don’t think I don’t know that you are the REAL thief! I saw you put back the money you stole in the man’s pocket!” I yelled to my conclusion. The boy surprised to hear them but he immediately changes his surprise expression to a teasing expression.

“You’re sharp.” he praised and suddenly took a few steps away from me. “But that’s not enough!” he continued and began to takes many steps away from me. I felt really angry at the boy. Usually, I can just let him go but he really pissed me and my stomach begged to be filled again. So, I chase him. Does he thinks he could get away from me who the third best athlete in school?

“You’re fast…” the boy praised me as I was able to catch him from getting away.

“Not bad as yourself!” I replied. Right now, both of us sat in front of 7-Eleven Shop while catching our breath because tired with all the running and stuff. I wish there’s something to drink. A bottle of 100 Plus will surely hits the spot!

“Hey, want to drinks?” he questioned right on time. I slightly nodded as a sign of yes and the boy replied a smile before went inside the shop.

After a few minutes, he bought 10 bottle of mineral water! Why so much? He sure has a lot of money… Or… “Hey, where did you get the money to buy all of these?” I asked and his sweat drops when heard my question. Figures, it’s my money that he stole from me. “Fine… I’ll let you go this time but... Why bought so many? It’s like there are more people besides us…”

“BINGO! I bought for my friends as well! Clever, aren’t I?” he smiled glittery much to make me annoyed.

“You’re wasting my money…” I said slowly more like a whisper.

“Hey, do you want to meet them?” asked the boy with a warm smile. His face is so cute, yet handsome. I don’t think I could help but to blush. I want to accept the offer since he doesn’t looks like a bad guy but soon, it would be dusk. Times sure fly fast. Plus, my mom and dad would probably really worry or already call the police for help since I’ve been away from home two days now.

Before I could refuse, the boy grabbed my wrist and pulled me closer. “Just for awhile, please~” whispered the Chinese boy to my ear. I feel that my face slowly turning red. It couldn’t be helped ANYWAY!

“Fine…” I agreed. I already gone for two days and why can’t I just go a little longer? Just until I meet his friends. But wait… I’ve never asked his name… Wonder what his name is…
