Sayonara IV - The Mask of Protection.

It’s
really a cold day since it’s almost winter season and the snow may
fall on the Yumemiru Academy soon. Akira stared at the blue sky that
just finished pouring rain while waiting for someone. It’s really
cold, so placed both of his hands in his sweater pocket and buried
his chin in his sweater’s collar.
“Damn,
I should bring my scarf with me…” he cursed himself. If only he
brings it, it would warm him a little but he can’t turns back.
He’ll have his punishment today for skipping Chemistry’s extra
class and if he is late, he may have his punishment doubled up!
Kizuna-sensei is a new teacher and he doesn’t know what type of
teacher he is; he maybe a hot-head or sadist or something like that.
However,
all Akira’s doubts are disappeared completely when something warm
warped around his neck. The blond touched the thing and found out it
is a scarf; a long and warm one. “Sorry for being late.”
Kizuna-sensei apologized before he continued, “You must be cold.
Use my scarf awhile, okay?”
Akira
turns around only to meet his teacher’s teal orbs with his
royal-blue eyes. Those
eyes… They look familiar somehow…
he said as he just stared at the teal orbs. “Umm… It’s fine,
sensei… And thanks for leading me your scarf.” He replied while
warped the scarf neatly around his neck. “Nee, what’s my
punishment?”
Suddenly,
Kizuna chuckled and ruffles Akira’s blond hair, “Aren’t you a
bit rush? It’s Saturday, so there’s no class period. Free times
for today!” He smiled and turns the smiley face to a smirk. “Or
you have a date with someone?”
“NO!
I’m single!” he retorted right away, blushing along the way.
Looking down, he mumbled, “Having a relationship, for me… It’s
tough…”
“What?”
“N-no!
Nothing! So, what’s my punishment?” Akira panicked, looking at
his teacher while scratching his head.
Both
of them felt silent awhile and broken by Kizuna, “Ah, I’m curious
about you… And this academy. I’ve only been here for a week and
there are more I want to know… Can you show me around?” he said
with a warm smile and his cheek turned a little pink colour.
The
smile… The slightly blushing… The dark-brown hair and teal orbs…
“You sure looked like
them…” Akira uttered and unconsciously touching his teacher’s
cheek. Much to Akira’s surprised, his teacher is like… Purring?
Maybe it’s because his hand is warm and his teacher is cold…
“Akari… Ku…” he said more like an unheard whisper as removed
his hand. “Sure, I’ll show you around…” Akira smiled, turning
around to lead the way.
A
smirk appeared at Kizuna’s lips and follows his student. “Finally…”
he mumbled.
--------
“Look,
there’s the academy’s café and if you turns around you’ll see
the academy’s hall.” Akira explained while pointing the academy’s
café and the hall where students gather and usually, when autumn
season like last month; the hall became ballroom at night while in
evening, there’s held concert live from talented students. The
academy is like packed with everything. It’s almost perfect but not
fully ‘perfect’.
Kizuna
nodded slightly. He really concentrates on hearing Akira’s
explanations about the academy; he not missing evens a little word
about the academy. “Akira-kun… You sure know many things about
this gakuen.” He praised and continued with his chin placed on his
hand, “You even know about almost half of the student’s names in
this academy…”
Akira
only smiled to hear the praise, “Ah, because they are my friends.”
He said while munching curry bread; his teacher bought for him.
Kizuna
removed his hand from his chin and crossed his arms, stopping his
legs from walking, “Then… May I ask you? If you have many
friends, Then, why are you always… Alone?”
Akira’s
movement stunned awhile upon hearing what his teacher said. Then, he
removed the bread from his lips, staring at it, smiling or more like
a fake one. “Alone? Heh, it’s because they are human.”
“What
do you meant by that?” his teacher became more curious.
The
blond looked away for a little while before he answered, “Human…
They always forget don’t they? When they have problems, they always
come and begged for help naming ‘we are friends’. After their
problems were solved, they completely have forgotten about the help
and what they said.”
Akira
felt quiet awhile before he continued, “Simple to say, they only
came to me when they have problems and left after their problem is
solved; or when they have someone that can replace me… Someone that
is better than me. Even if they are precious to me, they always left,
leaving me alone! Why do they come and leave? Why do humans even live
in this world only to hurt?! …… Ah, that is what humans are…
And… And… I’m also a human, Kizuna-sensei… I-”
Before
Akira could continue his words, a pair of hand warped around his,
hugging him tightly. “Gomen ne… Seems like your life is tough
isn’t it? Don’t worry, peoples that had a hard time will always
have a happy ending in the end and I’m sure you will too. Someday,
for sure…” He said as his gripped became tighter when he heard
the boy began to sobbing and crying in his arms.
Akira
doesn’t really know how and why his mask that he built after the
death of his family that he treasured finally broken into pieces by a
person who resembles as his twin and his neko, a person who he know
only for two days. He gripped Kizuna’s sweater and whispered,
“Kizuna-sensei… Can you… stay by my side? Promise me… don’t
leave me alone like others?”
Kizuna
shocked to hear what his students just said. It
is hurt… and comfort.
The dark-brown hair just kept quiet, rubbing his student’s back,
whispering ‘just let them all out.’ This
is at least I can do before…
After
a few minutes, Akira began to calm down and surprisingly, he told all
about his past to his teacher. The teacher like always, hear his
students confessing without missing any single words until everything
around them turning dark as night time has come.
“Akira-kun,
it’s getting really dark. You should return to your dorm.” Kizuna
said while patting Akira’s head gently. The blond already stopped
crying and his eyes also turning to its origin colour. That’s good;
if not, he will get attention from the people around him.
Akira
nodded and followed what his teacher told him. Before he leaves, he
bowed down to his teacher and thanked him for the comfort, “Thank
you very much, Kizuna-sensei!” Then, he stood up straight and
leaves his teacher, alone.
“Ah,
I forgot.” Akira slapped his head and pulls the warm scarf around
his neck. “This belongs to sensei!” he said happily as he turned
around to meet up again with his teacher. He couldn’t believe that
he is really happy to return to where he meets his sensei. It’s
been so long that he felt like this!
“Sensei~
here’s y-”
“So,
the principal’s office is only around the corner and you sure
there’s no security guard in this academy?” a voice asked.
“Yes,
I’m sure. They said that students are the security guard.”
Akira
quickly hides himself from being spotted by three people including
his teacher. Then he peeks that them, hearing what they said and the
same time wondered who they are. They
don’t look like belong here… Could it be…They are intruders
from outside academy?!
